Favorite clinical rotation: My favorite clinical rotation was at the Community Health Center in Kalispell, Mont. This experience guided me towards Family Medicine and opened the doors to the positive effect I can have on a community. It was incredibly rewarding to provide holistic care for those who need it the most and I realized the importance of communication and compassion. I enjoyed the challenging cases as well as my interactions I had with people from all walks of life. I felt it was a place where I could recognize a need and provide resources to truly make a difference.

What drew you to Family Medicine? While completing my clinicals, I was drawn to broad spectrum practice. I knew I wanted patient interaction and a reasonable work life balance. Family Medicine requires a broad knowledge base that involves continuous learning with endless opportunities for new challenges. I enjoy working with all ages and having continuity of care. I hope to contribute to the need of providers in rural and underserved areas. Family Medicine has diversity in patient population with opportunities to have a positive influence on a personal and communal level.

Anything else you want people to know about you? It is an honor to receive this scholarship, and I look forward to carrying on the legacy of Dr. Burr Field. I hope to emulate his compassion while providing holistic care to underserved populations. Thank you to his family and friends who are supporting the future of health care!

Favorite clinical rotation: My favorite clinical rotation thus far has been family medicine. I loved this rotation because I greatly valued the intergenerational relationships gained, continuity of care, and diversity of full-scope training.

What drew you to Family Medicine? It is the opportunity to make a tangible impact on the lives of my future patients and develop longitudinal, meaningful patient connections throughout their lifespan that draws me to family medicine. I am so excited about the prospect of gaining broad- spectrum training in residency that will prepare me to serve the needs of my future community.

Anything else you want people to know about you? Outside of medicine I enjoy spending time with my partner and our border collie puppy named Benji. We love spending time outdoors enjoying all that nature has to offer.

Favorite clinical rotation: My favorite rotations have always been in family medicine because of the connection with my patients that I am able to take some extra time and talk to them about their lives and what I can do make their day a bit brighter.

What drew you to Family Medicine? Family Medicine is all about building relationships with people and giving them the tools needed to improve their health and life. Family medicine physicians are one part clinician, one part educator, and one part community leader and friend. People come to us with all sorts of questions and complaints and are looking to use for our guidance and wisdom. It is that dynamic nature of not really knowing what the day holds that makes each day in practice exciting and unique.

Anything else you want people to know about you? My wife, Michelle, and I will be celebrating 11 years together this January and have quite the busy home with our Husky, Nicky, and two large cats, Tuna and Bear. A nerd at heart, I enjoy playing World of Warcraft as it gives me a way to spend time with my brother virtually. However, I would much prefer staying connected with drinks and good conversation. I am picking up reading again and prefer history and current events to fiction. Spiritually, I am bettering myself with online Bible study.
